During the last lockdown I brought to you my store cupboard challenge which resulted in confirming my love for Medik8 products (see my previous blogg on the SDA website). Well this lockdown brings me back to my laptop to tell you how I ensure I get great value for money out of the products I buy.
When I was younger, I bought lots of different products falling to the charms of the most glamorous adverts and packaging or to keep up with the latest new ‘must have’. During those days I don’t think I ever actually finished any product to the bottom of the jar or bottle. Far too much was just thrown away. Well how times have changed!!
Of course, we have all become more conscious of waste, and for me I just don’t like lots of pots and bottles cluttering up my bathroom or dressing table (don’t get me started on decluttering, its another favourite hobby of mine). I now like to buy just a few products, that do what they say they will do and I use them right to the bottom of the tube, pot or bottle. But how do you ensure you do use every last blob of cream in that tube.
So many tubes have their own very convenient pump dispenser but when it stops pumping, you just know there is plenty of that much-loved lotion or potion left in the tube. Out come my scissors and I literally cut the tube in half.

Ignore the proper pump cover and use the cut off section of the tube to form your new lid. Simple!! The tube sits nicely on the side, and I use a cotton bud or similar to get to my cream.

I literally get weeks more use out of my products and feel so smug that I’m not being wasteful. This article doesn’t exactly help us to sell more products but all of us at SDA want you to get the most out of every product you buy from us – so thought it was worth passing on this tip just in case you didn’t do this already.
